The municipality of Galapa, eight kilometers southwest of the capital of Atlántico via La Cordialidad road, is recognized for its artisan workshops dedicated to carving red ceiba wood, used to create the traditional and colorful masks of the Barranquilla Carnival. In Galapa's handicrafts, papier-mâché and vegetable fiber paste, such as straw, are also used.
