The Cultural Center of the East, in the heart of Bucaramanga, is a treasure of Republican architecture, featuring underground chambers, arches, columns, gardens, and small squares. This building, constructed between 1899 and 1912, housed the San Pedro Claver and Nuestra Señora del Pilar schools. The site, which hosts temporary exhibitions, was declared a National Monument in 1995.
